The Speak Series is an online event created during the Covid-19 pandemic by a pair of Poet Laureates, Rashad Wright of Jersey City, NJ and Talena Lachelle Queen of Paterson, NJ, to give voice to those who would not otherwise have a voice in celebration of National Poetry Month in April during the Covid-19 pandemic (2019). The podcast that was intended to last for one month gained momentum and continues to be a voice for others. Participants submit their words to be voiced by professional writers/ performers. The podcast airs live, promotes other programs via Speak Series field trips and alternates professional writers as hosts.
